What is TOK (Theory of Knowledge)?

In simple terms: TOK isn't a typical subject with facts to memorise. It's a critical thinking class that explores the nature of knowledge across the subjects. The central question is, "How do we know what we claim to know?"

Students don't learn *what* to think, but *how* to think. They'll explore different facets and concepts of knowledge (ethics, methods, perspectives) and different areas of knowledge (like history, the arts, and natural sciences). This helps them connect their learning across all their IB subjects.

• Why it matters: TOK develops analytical and argumentation skills that are invaluable for university and beyond. It teaches students to challenge assumptions and understand diverse perspectives, plus it helps students achieve the top assessment criteria of their subjects.

Why they are so critical: For university applications (especially to the UK, USA, and Europe), Predicted Grades are everything. Universities use these grades to decide whether to make a conditional offer of admission, as applications are often submitted before final IB exams are taken.
