The Computer Science Syllabus, Broken Down
Two themes, a programming core, and a solution to build. Here's how the new course is structured, and where students need support.
Computer Science has been rewritten for first teaching in 2025, with first examinations in May 2027, so students starting now are on the new guide. It is organised into two themes, how computing systems work and solving problems through computational thinking, with the old option topics and Paper 3 removed and a case study assessed in Paper 1. Students take SL or HL and complete a programming-based internal assessment. The 2025 results shown here reflect the outgoing course.
