The English B Syllabus, Broken Down
Five themes, three language skills, and an oral. Here's how English B is built, and where students most need support.
The current Language B guide, shared across English, Spanish, French and more, has been examined since May 2020. It is organised around five themes, identities, experiences, human ingenuity, social organization and sharing the planet, and assesses receptive, productive and interactive skills. HL students also study a work of literature. English B is for students with prior experience of the language, not first-language speakers.
