Using Tech to Get Awesome Grades!

Technology is here to help you ace school…but what are the best sources? Check out the below for some key ideas.

Youtube

So you’re used to wasting time online? Spend hours click through ‘related videos’ only to find yourself watching this man eating a kilogram of feta cheese? Well stop it! And watch some useful videos instead!

Samuel Jackson

  • Whole lessons! You can find tutorials for IB, GCSE or A-level subjects often by teachers! These can really help out if you missed a class in school or if you didn’t quite understand when your teacher explained.
  • Songs! If it exists, there’s a song for it. You’ve probably heard of the periodic table song. Well, search any topic into youtube followed by the word song. This can be productive thing to do during breaks.
  • Funny videos! Share the pain – check out some of the funny IB, A-levels & GCSE videos that other people have posted online and remind yourself that you are not alone.

Apps (all free and available for iOS and Android)

Angry Birds? Clash of Clans? Waste a lot of time on your phone? All those apps are standing between you and the success you want

Clashoftheclans

  • Maths Alarm Clock. Struggle to get up in the morning? This alarm makes you solve a math puzzle before it stops ringing in the morning. Really useful for getting out of bed.
  • Oxford Dictionary. I can’t stress how useful this is. Every piece of confusing vocab in!
  • Exam Time. This super useful app allows you to create flashcards, quizzes, notes, schedules etc. and it’s completely free!

Websites

Facebook distractions

We all know how distracting the internet can be. Personally I get distracted by a couple of websites…mostly it’s just Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, 9Gag, Tickld, Netflix, BBC, NYT, StumbleUpon, Buzzfeed
But! These sites can be useful.

  • Download or make quizzes to help you learn actively.
  • CliffsNotes / SparkNotes. Summaries of key texts, that are really easy to understand.
  • This is a web app that allows you to read twice as fast! Worth a try.

Use all these excellent tools to improve your learning and your grades will be excellent.
